Outback GutterVac Franchise Welcomes First Louisiana Franchisee
Michael Dunn brings premier gutter cleaning franchise to Lafayette, Louisiana
When Mike Dunn graduated high school, he did what many other Louisiana boys did: he went to the oil field. After 39 years of oil business ups and downs, Mike decided to embark on a second career and chose an Outback GutterVac franchise, becoming the first franchisee in the newly launched national franchise system.
Outback GutterVac is an easy-to-scale business with multiple recurring revenue streams. We offer rigorous service and safety training programs that provide homeowners a vital level of protection for their investment and health. Our startup costs range from $93,900 – $120,750 — a great value when taking into account our custom CRM systems and mobile apps, our Business Support Center and our state-of-the-art customer call center — all factors that drove Mike to select Outback GutterVac as his next career.
Mike recently took a few minutes between preparing for training and getting ready for his grand opening to share a few reasons he believes Outback GutterVac is the best choice for his second career as an entrepreneur.
Outback GutterVac franchises are vital because everyone has gutters
Mike remembers the moment he decided to pursue a career cleaning gutters. He was driving through his neighborhood, looking at houses and wondering what services people needed.
“There were trees growing out of some of the gutters,” Mike recalls. “Everyone has gutters. They’re there to protect the home, but they weren’t doing the job.”
The average home has more than 200 feet of guttering. With 80 million homes in the U.S., that’s more than 16 billion feet of gutters — dirty, clogged, tree-growing gutters — that need cleaning and servicing. Mike saw the need, and he began to consider how to go about opening the business. There was just one problem: he had cleaned his gutters before, and he knew what a dirty job it was.
Mike researched his options for starting a business doing power washing, gutter cleaning and other home maintenance services, but he didn’t know how to go about kicking off a business, marketing that business and ultimately growing it. A Facebook ad boasting Outback GutterVac answered his concerns.
He clicked the link and began digging into franchising, contacting a franchise broker and looking at his options for a second career.
“They sent me 10 different franchises,” Mike says, recalling that he couldn’t envision himself in a chef’s hat selling cookies or working in a mall hawking sunglasses. “One of them was a flip-flop shop, and I couldn’t see that being very successful.”
When he got to Outback GutterVac, though, his perception immediately changed. The gutter cleaning franchise uses technology to answer an age-old challenge to gutter cleaning, and Mike connected with the business almost immediately as he considered all the times he had cleaned his gutters over the past 20 years.
“It just wasn’t working,” he says of his own gutter cleaning experience. “It was time-consuming, and once you cleaned the gutters out with a water hose or a blower, then you had to clean up the mess you’d made in the yard.”
Outback GutterVac services are driven by our unique ThunderVacTM Technology Process, which removes all of the debris, grime and icky buildup cleanly and safely. Mike knew he had found the opportunity for him.
“When I saw that it was a vacuum system that sucks all of the gunk out, that made all the difference,” he says. “I thought this is a great opportunity, because gutters are there for a reason, and they’ve got to be cleaned out.”
His enthusiasm for Outback GutterVac’s line of services shows. It wasn’t just cleaning gutters that attracted him — our system hits the other high points of his goals for a business. With power washing and our GutterRoo gutter guard maintenance plans, Outback GutterVac is the well-rounded home maintenance and cleaning service people like Mike are looking for.
He’s excited to be a part of the nation’s premier gutter cleaning franchise opportunity as it takes off, and he looks forward to his potential for success, backed by the Business Support Center, a proprietary CRM system, and the enthusiasm of the franchise management staff.
“They’ve taken the guesswork out of it,” he says. “They give you the tools and resources to be successful.”
Up next, Mike will travel to Atlanta for training, where he’ll learn how to manage his business and operate the ThunderVacTM and other tools for the job. He’ll also receive ladder and roof safety training that meets OSHA and ANSI standards. Then, Mike takes his training and support back to Louisiana, where he’ll be on the vanguard of the Outback GutterVac brand revolution.
